Barrington Bloomers Garden Club seeks entries for Public Art Sculpture

Barrington, NH: The Barrington Bloomers Garden Club is calling for entries for a public art sculpture to be designed and installed in the Town Flower Garden at the heavily trafficked intersection of Routes 9 and 125. This is the second year for the sculpture contest. Last years winner was Adam Pearson of Barrington for his steel sculpture entitled “Tree.”
The garden is two and a half tiers, approximately 20ft. x 20ft. and is on the southwest corner of the intersection. All forms of sculpture will be considered. The garden club will host an opening of the installed sculpture on May 16, 2010. The selected artist will be promoted throughout the year.
Interested artists are asked to submit their name and contact information by April 10, 2010, along with sketch(es) and/or photo(s) of their design idea (be sure to include the dimensions of the sculpture), via email to BarringtonBloomers@metrocast.net or on CD to Barrington Bloomers – Call For Entries, PO Box 81, Barrington, NH 03825. The Barrington Bloomers organized in June of 2007 and the Town Garden is the first major project completed by the group.


Details:
Garden Site: Located on the South-West corner of the junction of Routes 9 and 125 in Barrington, NH. The tiered garden is constructed of large rocks and is approximately 20' x 20' diameter by 3' at its highest point.

Specifics:
• Artist to design, create and install a sculpture in the Town Garden by May 15, 2010 and remove it the last full weekend in October 2010.

• The Barrington Bloomers will host an ‘unveiling’ on May 16, 2010.

• To promote the artists’ work the BBGC will: provide a link from our website, BarringtonBloomers.blogspot.com, to the artists own website as well as the artists name will be
displayed on a sign near the garden.

• Deadline is April 10, 2010. Submit your sketch(es) and/or photo(s) of your design idea via email to: BarringtonBloomers@metrocast.net or mail on CD to: Barrington Bloomers –

• The dimensions of the artwork must be noted on the entry.

• Please provide a self-addressed return envelope with sufficient postage if you would like your photo(s) and/or sketch(es) returned.

• The BBGC will select the artwork and notify the artist on April 23, 2010.

The Barrington Bloomers Garden Club or the Town of Barrington are not liable for any theft or damage to the artwork. A signed form by the chosen artist will be required that they agree with these terms stated above.
