March 17 meeting notes and more!

Plant Propagation At Studley's Flower Gardens in Rochester, NH with Jeff Meulenbroek owner and head grower. March 17, 2010.
Jeff gave us a tour of the greenhouses and the outside garden center.
Handout for instructions for cutting plants to root them. Jeff then gave us a demonstration to show us how to set up pots with vermiculite for rooting. We then had a chance to pick from several different types of plants to make our own cuttings to bring home.
Jeff was very knowledgeable, and answered many questions we had for him. He was also very patient with our requests for different cuttings to take home. We had about 10 members attend this informative and enjoyable class.

The May meeting, Wednesday the 19th, will be held at the Barrington town library as well, but will be starting at 6:00pm (note time!). Presentation on Invasive Plants in your Yard and Garden. Doug Cygan will explain why they are invasive, how to identify and eradicate them.

We look forward to seeing all of you!

An important note for all members of the Garden Club:
I, Nancy K, will be stepping down from my position as President as of our June meeting. I have been president since I started the group in 2007 and thought it was time to "mix it up" and let someone else continue as the president and help to bring new ideas to the group. Coleen, currently our vice-president, has agreed that she would like to take over the position... so that leaves the vice president spot open! We will officially vote sometime soon at one of the upcoming meetings for both positions. Please let me know if you would be interested in taking over as the vice-president. 664.2747

Happy Gardening!
