Barrington Bloomers Meeting Notes

Dish Gardens with Dr. KIK; Kathleen Kimball
Four members joined with Dr. KIK to make dish gardens with containers we all brought to the meeting. Held at JoAnn Pearson's, thank you for having us. Assorted plants from all in attendance made great options to pick from. Great ideas from Kathleen for ornaments to add to the completed dish gardens. She also shared suggestions for books to read. One was "How to Grow Fresh Air" by Dr. B C Wolverton. Pictures were taken of completed works of art, and then JoAnn had us inside for tea and cookies, yum! Thanks to both JoAnn and Kathleen for a wonderful evening.

Elf's Garden Center tour, Rochester, NH

Wonderful place to checkout. It's so much more than just a garden center. Many items for sale in the gift shop. Large array of Alpaca products; plant pots, garden sculptures, foods and of course plants in all sizes and shapes. While we were on the tour we checked out the herd of Alpaca that live there. Beautiful animals and they had a new baby that they were all very protective of, so we kept our distance. Also on site were two angora rabbits and lots of chickens of  different breeds.
After the tour we got to shop for plants to put in our hanging baskets or containers that we brought with us. The staff was very helpful as we asked questions about putting different plants together. After we made our decisions, we got to work putting them together in our containers. Photos were taken of members and their creations. Had a wonderful time and Elf's gave us 10% off on our purchases.

Friends of the Library Plant Sale, held at the Rec Hall under the library
Lynn, JoAnn,Dr. KIk and Cindi were in attendance to sell raffle tickets for the Barrington  Bloomers club. Had three items up for the raffle: Hanging Basket of flowers,  Wentworth Greenhouse gift certificate, and a ceramic pot filled with pruners, gloves,plant and a small carrier with garden tools. Winners drawn at the end of the sale were

Raffle made $95 for the bloomers!!  thanks to all for helping.
The Isles of Shoals trip will not be happening in July as it now costs $100 per person to attend the Celia Thaxter garden tour with a luncheon and boat ride included. If anyone has suggestions for a tour or trip for July that's a little less costly let us know.
