Meeting notes for January 16, 2008 (and Nov., Dec. of 2007)

The garden club met at the Town Library at 6:30pm.

Nancy Kanner opened the meeting, reporting the club has $400.00 in it’s treasury and
23 members (and 42 signed up to receive Bloomer email).
The evening was spent discussing suggestions for field trips and ideas for future meetings. A tentative schedule was agreed upon for some of the forthcoming meetings.

Field trip suggestions are as follows: (with names of members who are looking into the subject and for speakers)
White Flower Farm
Container gardening at one or more --Wentworth Greenhouse, Churchill Gardens in Exeter
Davis Brook Farm in Hancock with hundreds of daylily varieties
Earth Gardens in Farmington for composting and ornamental grasses with Eva Christenson.
The 3rd week-end in April, the Coop. Extension Service has compost, native trees, and
plants at the Rochester Fair Grounds. Help is needed and we could volunteer.

Grasses (Heather)
Flower arranging (Lindy)
Soil preparation (Nancy)
Invasive plants (Nancy)
Saving seeds and from which plants
Plants attracting wildlife (Coleen)

The town garden committee members are: Lindy, Kim, Clayton, Kate, and Sherry.
Kim Langevin will distribute a phone tree.
The meeting adjourned at 7:30pm after a short Bow Making demonstration by Coleen.
The next meeting is Feb. 20 at 6:30 pm at the library. Heather and Kate will provide
refreshments.

In November, the Bloomers hosted a holiday gathering the Wednesday after Thanksgiving at the town Library.
And for December, the Bloomers created their own Christmas wreaths. Thanks to Coleen for showing us how to put it all together!
