Meeting Notes for Oct. 17 2007

Our speaker, Jim Berry– spoke about "Putting your garden to bed." An informative presentation on fall chores that should be accomplished before winter sets in. Many of the tasks you do in the fall help reduce insect and disease problems in the spring. Jim had a few handouts from the UNH cooperative extension, copies of these handouts are in the Barrington Bloomers Reference Notebook (available at each meeting). Also see the Co-op's site: http://extension.unh.edu A thank you note has been sent to Jim.

The meeting continued with a few Q&A's for Jim, as well as a business meeting.

Sunday October 21. Bulb planting (thanks to Barb for sharing the Narcissus bulbs and Cindi for getting the donation of 250+ bulbs from Northern Nurseries!) A group of four bloomers planted bulbs at the Post Office and the historical society building. Kim took a bag of bulbs to plant at the Elementary School. There are still many bulbs left... the areas that need planting are: the stonewall by the library and the fire station/police station in front of the stonewall and sign. Coleen plans to plant at the fire station on Wed. the 24th in the afternoon. If you would like to plant some bulbs in any of the 2 places or if you have a spot that you think would be nice to have some, let me know! kanscho(at)metrocast(period)net
