Winteresting Trees with Edward Roy from Urban Tree Service
Edward is certified arborist   and a member of the International Society of
 Arbor Culture
We had 8 members in attendance at the library. Ed had a slide show of trees that have winter interest because of their bark, fruit , flower or their form.
Showed different types of bark from flakey, smooth, corky or multi-colored.
Trees with fruit or flower such as crab apples, mountain ash, Chinese witch hazel
For trees with interesting form such as Dawn Redwood, contoured Filbert, weeping hemlock or white oak
Had very interesting discussions from members with Edward, as he is very knowledgeable on the subject of trees, such as diseases and infections, cures for treating organically or chemically, and what to look for when looking at tree barks.

November 20th will be our next meeting at 6:30PM
We will be doing a Kissing Balls workshop with Cyndi Cowland in Rollinsford at Golden Meadows Day Lillie's Farm. We need a commitment by Nov 13th to confirm the number of members wishing to attend. Cost is $40 for one kissing ball. Cyndi will have everything we need, but bring your pruners and gloves. If you have a color preference other than the normal Xmas colors you can bring your own ribbons. 5 Yds each of 3" and 1 1/2".  There may be an option to make a swag if the kissing ball is not what you want. Call Joann (664-9557) to confirm your attendance for this fun workshop. Car pool from the library, leave at 6PM.

We had ten members in attendance for the fall garden clean-up. It went very well and we even had time to give the library for clean-up of their gardens. Had fun with the Halloween season with chocolate donuts with fangs for centers. Took a picture of bloomers wearing fangs in front of the garden. Spooky group!!
thank you to Jeff and Kim for the use of their truck for garden debris.
Thanks to all that showed up.

December meeting will be our annual Xmas Pot Luck/ Yankee swap
The date will be Dec 11th at Lynn's on Penny Lane. Bring a dish or dessert, and a purchased personal item for the Food Pantry in Barrington. For the yankee swap bring a wrapped $10 gift. Please let Lynn know if you will be attending so she can plan for the main course.

Hope to see more faces for our upcoming events! Happy Halloween
Cindi
